Mooeys Haslemere celebrates first year of opening.
Well, what a year!! I think everyone is done with 2020. But then again, we’re not even allowed to celebrate with any more than 6 to see in the New Year and even then, the pubs will shut at 10pm. I am so desperate and ready to flip the bird to 2020.
Anyway, enough of the doom and gloom; we’ve only gone and reached our 1st birthday with a worldwide pandemic in the middle.
How amazing is that?!
So what has Haslemere’s first year been like?
They say the 1st year is the hardest when starting a new business and yes this is 100% true! Virus or no virus, it’s tough.
I admit I have made some questionable decisions, but I am pleased to say that I have never repeated any of my mistakes.
Working full-time, being a mum and wife, whilst trying to build a business on top of all that can be very stressful. My husband, Richard, was a source of support and reassurance and basically had my back throughout the whole process. He was 100% on board with my decision to buy a franchise. No negativity, no hesitation. He believed in me and so gave me the push I needed to get it done. He has always encouraged me to be the best I can be, even when I’m at rock bottom he is always helping me see my potential.
The people around you can really make all the difference to achieving your dreams, so know your support network; you’ll need it.
Being yourself in this process is very important and when things get tough, just keep the end goal in mind.
Once you have done all the hard work of getting the business up and running, the next hardest thing is actually running your salon. All your teething problems will creep out (or perhaps just slap you in the face!*), but I have an amazingly awesome team of ladies behind me at HQ making sure I’m doing my best, and ready to help me out in any way that they can.
* I am horrendous with measurements, so I would always recommend that you have a measuring tape at hand at all times. I purchased foot stools for extremely short people and thought that ordering 5 packs of wax strips and wax spatulas was enough. Good job I had Amy and Jo guiding me though the ordering!
I wouldn’t change being a franchisee for the world, I love my Mooeys, I love my team and all the Mooeys Ops Team.
