They’d probably be a lot like this.
Let’s be honest – business deals and franchise transitions aren’t usually known for being warm, transparent, or collaborative. They’re often transactional, filled with tension, and not exactly the kind of thing you’d raise a glass over.
But that’s not how we do things at Mooeys.
If Heineken did business deals, they’d probably look a lot like the recent transition of Mooeys Haslemere. Full of open communication, heartfelt honesty, and a genuine commitment to doing what’s right – for the people, the clients, and the brand.
Navigating Change the Mooeys Way
The handover of Mooeys Haslemere wasn’t your average business decision. Change is never easy – especially in a franchise setting where there are so many moving parts. There are people involved. Emotions. Teams to support. Clients to consider. And in this case, the pressure was real.
But this isn’t our first rodeo.
When Vanessa originally took over Haslemere, it was stressful. Really stressful. There were so many unknowns, so many logistics, and so many feelings. But we got through it by doing the one thing we always return to – talking. Honestly. Openly. With care and clarity.
Fast forward to today, and we’ve taken our partnership on another journey. And once again, we came out the other side even stronger – not just as business partners, but as two women who genuinely care about each other and the Mooeys family we’re building.
Franchising Is a Relationship – Not a Transaction
People often think of the word franchise and imagine a very corporate, cookie-cutter model. But that’s not what Mooeys is about. For us, franchising is a relationship. It’s like a marriage – it takes work, patience, trust, and a whole lot of communication.
These relationships, alongside my teams, are the heartbeat of the Mooeys empire. If my people aren’t happy, connected, and feeling valued, then how can they create amazing spaces for their teams or deliver the incredible service our clients love?
Vanessa has always been a brilliant communicator – open, honest, and strong in her convictions. She knows I’ll always support her in whatever way she needs, because for me, that’s what a franchise partnership should be.
Doing Franchise Business Differently
I’ll admit, I sometimes wonder if I’m doing it wrong compared to the wider franchise world. Am I too soft? Too understanding? Not corporate enough?
But then I remember: I don’t want to do business like everyone else.
I want to franchise my way – with empathy, communication, and support at the core. Where we work together to find the best outcomes. Where tough conversations aren’t avoided, but embraced with respect. Where both sides feel heard, valued, and empowered.
It’s not always easy. The Haslemere transition certainly wasn’t. It took careful planning, strong leadership from our teams, and a huge amount of communication across the board – between us, the team, and most importantly, with our amazing clients.
But we did it. And we did it well.
A Franchise Built on People
At Mooeys, we don’t just build salons. We build relationships. We create safe, honest spaces for our franchise partners to grow. We prioritise the people behind the business, because when our franchisees are thriving, so is our brand.
And in a world where franchise deals can often feel cold and disconnected, I’m proud to say that Mooeys is doing things differently.
If Heineken did franchise business?
Yeah, it’d probably look a lot like this.
