If you’ve been looking into hair reduction, you’ve probably seen both Laser and IPL mentioned… and honestly, it can feel a bit confusing.

They’re often talked about like they’re the same thing—but they’re really not. And choosing the right one makes a big difference to your results.

So let’s break it down in a way that actually makes sense 👇

First up… what is IPL?

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. Instead of one focused beam, it sends out lots of different wavelengths of light all at once.
Think of it like a scattered flash of light rather than something super targeted.

It can reduce hair, but because it’s less precise, it doesn’t always go as deep or as directly to the root.

In real terms:

  • It can work… but it can be slower
  • You’ll usually need more sessions
  • Results can be a bit hit and miss depending on hair type
  • It’s also treating the skin around the hair, not just the follicle

Now… Laser

Laser is much more focused. It uses a single wavelength that goes straight down into the hair follicle.
So instead of “flooding” the area like IPL, it’s targeting exactly what we want it to target.

What that means for you:

  • Stronger, more effective results
  • Works really well on thicker or stubborn hair
  • Fewer sessions needed overall
  • Much more consistent results

Let’s talk honestly for a second…

Laser can be felt a bit more than IPL.

Some machines out there are genuinely quite uncomfortable—especially if your hair is darker or coarser (because that’s exactly what the laser is picking up on).

But… technology has come a long way.

Modern machines (like the ones we use) have built-in cooling systems that constantly calm the skin while we treat. So yes, you’ll still feel a bit of warmth or a slight snap, but it’s much more comfortable and manageable.

And again, that feeling is a good sign. It means the laser is actually doing what it’s supposed to do.

Why we don’t call it “hair removal”

You’ll notice we always say hair reduction, and there’s a reason for that.

The truth is, you can’t remove 100% of hair permanently.
Most people can achieve up to around 90% reduction, which is amazing, but we all have fine, downy hairs that laser simply won’t pick up.

And that’s just science.

Laser works by targeting pigment, so the hair has to be darker than the skin. If there’s no pigment, there’s nothing for the laser to see.

So any claims of “100% hair removal forever”… aren’t being completely honest.

And we’re always going to be straight with you.

Why we’ve chosen Laser (and who we’ve chosen to work with)

This was a big decision for us, and not one we rushed.

We’ve partnered with Contour Group because they’re not just a big corporate company. They’re clinic and salon owners themselves which means they understand what we need, what works, and most importantly, how to get real results for clients.

For us, it wasn’t just about the machine.
It was about the people behind it, the training, and the results we’re able to achieve.

The honest truth (in the nicest way possible 😅)

We don’t want to see you loads of times for the sake of it.

Of course, it takes a course of treatments. But our goal is always to get you results as efficiently as possible.

We’re not here to just take your cash (bad juju ✋).
We’re here to get you results.

The kind where your skin feels smooth, low-maintenance…basically, dolphin-like 🐬 (you know exactly what we mean).

And honestly, that’s the bit we love the most.
