People want to be hair free and want it last forever, and who doesn’t want to feel like a dolphin, right?
Laser Hair removal is becoming increasingly popular nowadays, and as we specialise in hair removal services, it seems only fitting that we offer a treatment that provides permanent hair removal options aswell.
As you know, we love finding out what our clients think, so after we carried out the Laser survey that was issued in July 2022, it was really clear that our comMOOnity were really interested in having laser, but either wanted to know more about it, or wanted to go somewhere that they trusted.
So, after 5 years of research, we have finally found the equipment that we feel really confident in, and comfortable launching across our salons.
We have Laser Hair Removal services in our Horsham, Godalming and Petersfield branches.
At Mooeys, we use the Contour Dio-Ice from the Contour Group.
The Dio-Ice’s Triple Wavelengths (755 Alexandrite – 808 Diode – 1064 ND Yag) offers the three most effective laser hair removal wavelengths on the market, simultaneously working in unison. Allowing us to safely treat ALL Skin types and target hair growths at different stages for optimum, quick results.
The triple wavelength is considered the Gold Standard in Laser Hair Removal for the face and body. The removal process is very significant, painless and comfortable.
Diode Laser Hair Removal provides enhanced comfort during treatment, minimal risk of infection, speed and accuracy and also minimises skin irritation that other methods may create. Diode Laser is a precise instrument, with light parameters that can be adjusted to damage only the hair follicle, while minimally affecting the surrounding skin.
- Painless treatment
- CE Medical Approved Device
- Suitable for ALL skin types
- Medical grade class 4 laser
- 3 wavelengths: 755 Alexandrite, 808 Diode, 1064 ND Yag
The system emits near-infrared laser light that is absorbed by the melanin located in the hair follicle. The laser is pulsed for only a fraction of a second, and the duration of each pulse is long enough to damage the follicle without damaging the surrounding tissue.
The equipment we use has a unique, patented contact-cooling hand piece, that protects the skin by offering conductive cooling during the laser delivery.
- Level 3 Beauty therapy qualification
- Core of Knowledge (laser theory training)
- Manufacturer Training
We only have specific therapists carrying out this treatment who have the relevant experience and training required for us to be fully insurable, and to of course deliver the best results.
It never felt right to us, to have equipment that wasn’t suitable for everyone. So we waited until we found the machine that could be fully inclusive.
The Dio-Ice’s triple wavelength technology allows for the treatment of all different skin types which is why we have chosen this specific equipment.
- 755 Alexandrite is perfect for light coloured skin and fair hair.
- 808 Diode is the classic wavelength used by most Laser Hair removal units and is suitable for most skin and hair types.
- 1064 ND Yag is used to treat darker and/or tanned skin tones that have lower melanin absorption.
Most clients get up to 80% hair reduction within 6-8 sessions minimum
The number of treatments you require, depends so much on your hair type. Darker, more coarse hair will see results quicker than fair hair for instance.
Treatments need to be carried out 4-8 weeks apart depending on hair growth cycle and some clients may need up to 12 treatments. This varies for each individual person.
Laser hair removal won’t work on ‘fluffy’ hair or hair without pigment, so extremely fair hair which means you may have great results but be left with some fluffy hair still that cannot be removed.
Ideally forever!
Everybody’s hair and skin is different and generally speaking, laser is a long term hair removal option. However, if you go through significant hormonal changes such as Pregnancy, Menopause or change in medication – this can have an impact on your hair regrowth and some hair may grow back.
You could experience temporary side effects such as itchy skin, redness, mild swelling of the follicle or mild irritation. But these are all perfectly normal after Laser Hair Removal treatment.
We can stress the importance of following the correct prep and aftercare to receive maximum results with minimal side effects to the treatment.
Certain medications can cause photo-sensitivity to the skin and this may affect the skin’s reaction to the treatment. These medications are but not limited to oral and topical vitamin A’s, antibiotics, and certain anti-depressants. It is best to speak with your medical professional and obtain medical clearance. After obtaining medical clearance, we are able to test patch you with the laser to determine it is safe to commence treatment.
This really depending on your hair and skin type aswell as the area being treated. We would recommend you have treatments every 4-6 weeks.
Each part of the body has a different hair growth cycle, so the hair loss will vary depending on what phase your follicles are in at the time of treatment.
Pre and post care for laser is just as important as the treatment itself. Follow the below guidelines to help us achieve the best results possible.
- Shave the treatment area the night before your treatment.
- Do not have any types of chemical peels or laser resurfacing treatments for at least 4 weeks before your treatment
- Exfoliate the treatment area approx. least 3 days before your treatment
- Make sure you don’t have any fake tan residue on the skin.
- Do not use sun beds or lay in the sun for two weeks prior to having your laser treatment. This includes any tanning pills/drugs or enhancers
- Do not apply any creams/lotions/potions or perfume on the area that is being treated, on the day of your treatment.
- Avoid waxing, plucking or hair removal creams for 4 weeks prior to treatment to get the best results.
Numbing creams are not particularly safe, nor super effective when doing Laser Hair Removal. The sensation that you feel in a Laser treatment is not felt on the skin, but in the follicle of the hair. Numbing creams cannot penetrate deep enough to minimise any discomfort that may be felt at the follicle.
Also, with the Laser machine that we use, it provides a cooling effect which prevents the usual heat sensation you can get with other types of machines.
Please ensure that no occlusive creams are present on the treatment areas when undergoing laser hair removal treatments.
Please follow the below aftercare to help us achieve the best results possible:
- For 2 days post treatment, you must avoid hot showers, shaving, waxing and any kind of plucking in the area. Also, you need to avoid excessive sweating for a few days too, so definitely no steam or saunas.
- Using daily SPF is super important, especially on the face, and avoid direct sunlight for up to 4 weeks.
- Applying an after-laser moisturiser really will help keep your skin hydrating and help with soothing, calming and cooling the skin. Our MOOSKIN Soothe is brilliant for this, and designed specifically for post waxing and laser treatment – it’s ace.
- Please don’t exfoliate for approx. a week, however exfoliating a couple of times per week will really help with your results and getting super soft skin at the same time.
Yes of course! Please just use a fresh tampon, or menstrual cup if you are having your Intimate area treated.
We only treat clients who are over 18 in Mooeys. This is our policy and is in line with our insurance requirements also.
There is no link connecting Laser Hair Removal to negative effects on pregnant women or when breastfeeding. However, there is also no evidence to guarantee it is actually a safe treatment to have during this time either.
However, because there are no long-term studies and due to the delicate nature of pregnancy, it has been recommended by most professional that laser hair removal is postponed until after the birth of the baby. And at Mooeys, we whole heartedly agree with this and feel it is always best to err on the side of caution when it comes to the health and welfare of both mum and baby.
When it comes to breastfeeding, the problem lies with the hormones and the affect that hormones have on your hair growth. The Laser itself won’t cause you or your baby any problems, however we cannot guarantee a great result.
Our word of advice on this would be to wait 12 weeks post labour before continuing or starting your Laser course. This is because the hair growth can change so much during and after labour and we want you to get the best results possible. Let your body heal and rest up, and then once you have passed the 12-week period, this would be the right time to get on with your Laser again, or even start it.
If you are troubled by excess hair growth during pregnancy, we recommend more temporary hair removal solutions such as waxing. Once you have given birth and past your initial 12 weeks, we are happy to re-commence your Laser Hair Removal sessions or start your course of treatment.
We would also always recommend a patch test post labour, even if you have had laser hair removal before. The body goes through so many changes, and we would want to be sure that you aren’t going to have any kind of reactions.
Not at all, we offer laser hair removal services for all people, however we don’t currently offer scrotum laser hair removal services.
LASER HAIR REMOVAL IS ONLY AVAILABLE IN OUR HORSHAM, GODALMING AND PETERSFIELD BRANCHES
