Ear piercing done properly.

Safe, gentle, and calm from start to finish. With lovely hypoallergenic earrings from Studex to choose from.

Available at our Newbury and Haslemere salons. Coming soon to Petersfield.

Ear piercing is now a thing at Mooeys.

Whether it’s a first ever piercing at age 8, a second hole in your late teens, or a fresh set of earrings in your forties, we’re here for it.

Safe, gentle, properly done, using hypoallergenic Studex earrings and equipment we know we can trust. And because we know first piercings can feel like a big deal (they are), we take our time and make sure everyone feels ready before we start.

Ears only: lobes and cartilage.

At Mooeys we pierce ears: both earlobes (the soft, fleshy bit at the bottom) and cartilage on the ear itself (the firmer parts higher up, including helix piercings). We don’t currently pierce anywhere else on the body.

Our minimum age for ear piercing is 8. Anyone under 16 needs a parent or guardian with them and their written consent on the day. Anyone 16 or over is welcome to book on their own.

Bringing a child?

First piercings are a real milestone, and we’ve built our approach with that in mind. We’ll take our time to explain what happens, show your child the earrings they’ll be going home with, and answer any questions before we start.

For anyone under 16, a parent or guardian needs to be there and to give written consent on the day. We’ll go through the consultation together so you both know exactly what’s happening and can ask anything you’d like to know.

Your Moo will let your child set the pace. If they need a break, a bit longer to feel ready, or a chat before we start, that’s completely fine.

The kit we use.

We use the Studex System 75, a piercing system we chose for how well it handles the two things that matter most: hygiene and comfort.

Pre-sterilised, single-use cartridges. Nothing that touches your ear has touched anyone else’s.

Touch-free loading. Your Moo never handles the earring or the piercing tip directly.

FDA-approved to the standard used across professional piercing.

Trusted and used by piercing professionals across the UK.

The earrings themselves.

Studex earrings are hypoallergenic (surgical steel or titanium), which is exactly what newly pierced ears need for a smooth healing period. You’ll get to choose the style before we start. A few classic options for first piercings, plus some slightly more grown-up choices for teens and adults.

The questions we get asked.

Ear piercing is currently offered at our Newbury and Haslemere salons, with Petersfield joining us very soon. We'll add more salons over time; for now, these are the ones to book at.

Our minimum age is 8. Anyone under 16 needs a parent or guardian with them and their written consent on the day of the appointment. Anyone 16 or over is welcome to book on their own.

Yes. We pierce lobes and cartilage on the ear, including helix. We don't currently pierce anywhere else on the body: if you're after nose, navel, or other body piercings, a specialist piercing studio will be the right home for that.

Yes, and we take safety seriously. We use the Studex System 75, which is designed around hygiene: single-use pre-sterilised cartridges, touch-free loading, and FDA-approved manufacturing. Our Moos are certified in its use, and every appointment starts with a full consultation and consent form so we can check for anything (allergies, medical conditions) we need to know about before we start.

Honest answer: yes, a bit, but only for a moment. Most people describe it as a sharp pinch that’s over before you’ve really registered it. Children often surprise themselves at how quick and manageable it is. If you’re nervous, tell us when you arrive and we’ll take extra time to talk you through what to expect.

Usually around 30 minutes. The piercing itself is very quick. Most of the time is spent on the consultation, choosing your earrings, marking the position, and making sure you’re happy with everything before we begin. There’s never any rush.

For the initial piercing, no. We use Studex hypoallergenic earrings specifically designed for newly pierced ears (surgical steel or titanium, in the right shape and size for safe healing). Once your piercings are fully healed, usually after 6 weeks, you can change to earrings of your choice.

We pierce one ear at a time. We take a calm, unhurried approach, so between the first and second ear your Moo will check in with your child and only continue when they’re ready. Most children handle both ears comfortably in a single appointment.

That’s completely normal, and we’re used to it. We’ll take our time, talk you through every step, and let you have as long as you need before we start. For children, having a parent or guardian there to hold hands and offer reassurance makes a real difference. If we can tell someone isn’t ready on the day, we’ll happily rebook rather than push through. Nothing about this is worth doing if it doesn’t feel right.

Studex earrings are hypoallergenic and suitable for the vast majority of people, including those with sensitive ears. If you have a known metal allergy (nickel is the most common), let us know at the consultation and we can talk through your options. In most cases the titanium studs are the right choice.

Absolutely. Single ear piercings are very welcome. Same care, same kit, same lovely earrings, just one side.

Lobe piercings need at least 6 weeks before you change the earrings. Cartilage piercings take significantly longer, usually at least 3 months and sometimes up to 6, because cartilage heals more slowly than the fleshy lobe. Your Moo will let you know what to expect for your specific piercing.

During the healing period: clean the piercings 2-3 times a day with the solution we give you, avoid swimming and saunas, and try not to touch the earrings unnecessarily. Cartilage piercings also benefit from sleeping on the other side and being careful with hair, headphones, and hats. Once healed, you’re free to change to earrings of your choice.

Where to book

Ear piercing is currently available at:

Mooeys Newbury

Mooeys Haslemere

Mooeys Petersfield (coming soon)

If your favourite Mooeys isn’t on this list yet, keep an eye on the site. We’ll be adding more salons as we grow the service.

Aftercare, in short.

We’ll send you home with an aftercare solution and printed instructions, but the short version is:

● Clean the piercing 2-3 times a day with the solution we give you.

● Avoid swimming pools, saunas, and steam rooms while the piercings are healing.

● Don’t touch or turn the earrings unnecessarily, and always wash your hands first if you do.

● Keep the initial piercing earrings in for at least 6 weeks for lobes, or 8 months for cartilage with the new advance studex solution. Cartilage takes significantly longer to heal because the tissue is denser.

● If you notice redness, swelling, or discharge, give the salon a ring and we’ll take a look.
